The Sonata Op.52 receives here its world-première recording. The fourth work in the programme, the Alleluia Pascha Nostrum, was commissioned by Raphael Wallfisch and first performed by him at a BBC concert in Manchester’s Royal Exchange on 25 February 1982, the year following its completion. This is the world-renowned cellist’s second recording of the latter work. The present CD is the second of two recitals recorded recently by these artists for the BMS label. |
